The Horizon View security server

The Horizon View security server is another individual component of the architecture and is another role performed by the connection server. The key differences are that firstly, it sits within your DMZ, and therefore is not joined to your domain. This allows it to be used for end users to securely connect to their virtual desktop machine from an external network or the internet without the need for a VPN. As it is paired with one of your connection servers, the internal connection server it is paired with takes care of knowing about the users and desktop pools, and so on. Secondly, it does not hold a copy of the ADAM database. As you will see in Chapter 5, Installing and Configuring Horizon 7 – Part 2, the installation process is the same as installing the view connection server, but, instead, this time, you select the security server role from the drop-down menu at the start of installation.

You cannot install the view security server on the same machine that is already running as a connection server or any of the other Horizon View components.
